Kumbh Photography Festival

The first major event at the camp is the Kumbh Photography Festival, in which nearly two hundred photographers from around the world have been hosted by YUVA Foundation,Parmarth Niketan and Indian Institute of Photography (IIP) from the 13-16th January.

The event began with inspiring blessings and messages from Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji and Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswatiji, Secretary-General, Global Interfaith WASH Alliance and President, Divine Shakti Foundation. The participants gathered in rapt attention to
the speeches, inspiring them to “Photograph with a Purpose” and highlight the “Mela with a Message.”

More than 1000 other photographers were connected online and given#KumbhPhotographyFest Tshirts/Kits to submit their Photo entries of the Kumbh. All these veteran and new photographers were given four main themes to click – Sadhus at Kumbh, Prayag City during Kumbh, Devotees at Kumbh, and Snan at Kumbh Sadhviji added a fifth them of the “Form of Faith,” encouraging them to take pictures that fill the viewer with the experience of faith.

On the final day, 200-300 best photos from all categories were framed & displayed in a
wonderfully curated photo gallery installed at the Kumbh site. The gallery will be open and the
photos on display throughout the Kumbh.

January 13-16th, 2019

We welcome you to join us for the Kumbh Photography Festival, in which 100 of the best photographers from around the world will be hosted by YUVA Foundation, Parmarth Niketan and Indian Institute of Photography (IIP) for 4 days (3rd week of January 2019, from the 13-16th January) at the start of the highly anticipated Kumbh Mela in Prayag Raj (accomodation and food will be provided).

More than 1000 other photographers will also be registered online and will be given #KumbhPhotographyFest Tshirts/Kits and they will have the opportunity to submit their Photo entries of the Kumbh.

All these veteran and new photographers will be posed with a once in a lifetime opportunity to capture the essence of the Kumbh through their lens by taking photographs across four themes – Sadhus at Kumbh, Prayag City during Kumbh, Devotees at Kumbh, Snan at Kumbh (we will be there for the first Shahi Snan!) and to submit their entries.

On the last day, 200-300 best photos from all categories will be framed & displayed in a wonderfully curated photo gallery installed at the Kumbh site. This gallery will be operative through out the Kumbh.

Social media platforms will be exploited, to spread these pictures globally. During our last two festivals – #KumbhArtFest & #AyodhyaArtFest, trended all India number #1 on twitter and thousands tweeted about the fest and we are certain with your participation we can create a global buzz through Kumbh.

Kumbh is the largest gathering of human beings on Earth. More than 15 crore people are expected to join this Kumbh. We invite you to join hands with us to make Kumbh Photography Fest magical and magnificent!
